Florence became seriously ill whilst in the Crimea during the war. She came here for treatment and according to the patient, Malvern saved her life. Tickets £7 reserved seats. Saturday 15th October 2pm DR PHILIP LANCASTER On IVOR GURNEY & THE MUSE OF THE SEVERN VALE The Severn Vale, bounded by the Malvern Hills, the Cotswolds, May Hill and Dymock, lie at the heart of Gurney's work. Dr Lancaster explores the representation of this landscape in Gurneys poetry and music. Tickets £8 unreserved. Saturday 15th October 3.15pm MERRYN WILLIAMS On THE GEORGIAN POETS During The Great War the Georgian Poets sold books in their thousands, only to be overshadowed and forgotten within a few years. Eliot, Dorothy L. Sayers all met at Malvern College in 1941. Their vision was a post-war society based on social justice and the unification of Europe as a cooperative commonwealth.
